Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Ugboaja.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Angela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there. Since I was a little girl, I always enjoyed dressing up and going the extra mile at school, especially for picture day. At such a young age, I did not think to pursue fashion until I was much older. At that time, I was dressing up and putting outfits together as a hobby. I enjoyed shopping and watching “What Not To Wear” on Oxygen with host Stacey London. I loved styling and critiquing the guest from my living room as if I was there.

Eventually, assisting family and coworkers with their personal wardrobe is when I realized my love for clothes and making people feel their best was a rewarding experience. Due to my passion and love for helping others, I took a leap of faith and started Acu Styles. Moreover, my service to others is transferred into a passion for being a personal stylist. I have always had a keen eye for style, along with, years of retail experience. I truly believe each person has their own unique identity that is expressed through clothing and with the help of Acu Styles, they will be able to define who that is.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome? For the most part, yes, it has been a smooth road. However, collaborating with high-end brands has been an uphill climb, but along the way, I am enjoying the journey. Nevertheless, networking with local brands and attending fashion shows, has been a welcomed adventure.

Please tell us about Acu Styles. The name of my company is called Acu Styles. As the owner of Acu Styles, I provide one-on-one personal styling consultations, personal shopping, and closet consultations. My company specializes in creating customized looks crafted for each client while maintaining the Acu Styles signature. My organic style sets me apart from others because of my ability to pull various pieces to create a cohesive stylish look. I am proud of my ability to work with diverse populations and connecting with others through clothes.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood? My favorite childhood memory was the sleepless nights full of excitement of figuring out what I would wear for school to show up and show stop. I loved organizing and styling each outfit day-by-day. I know most kids would get excited about the first day, but I would go as a far as the first two weeks of school. Also, I remember how excited I was when I won best dressed at the end of the school year. It was worth it! 🙂
